ABOUT ME

Hazel lives and works in Jersey where she creates emotive works of art from her studio.

Hazel studied at Chelsea College of Art and lived and worked in London for 12 years, running her own textile design business. She then returned to her family home in Jersey, where she developed her interest in art by studying for a fine art degree at Highlands College.   

 

“The process of painting takes me on an exciting journey of discovery which makes me experience highs and lows that I find totally compelling. My influences stem from what and how I see the world around me.  I'm led by my passion for colour, texture and tone and I am driven to find balance and harmony.”                                          

 

Hazel applies fluid paint freely but in a considered way allowing merging colours and developing layers of colour. Often using large sweeping brushstrokes or gestural marks over the delicate layers of modulated colour until she feels the process is complete.
